With the advent of personal computers in most households and smartphones, epidemiologists are evaluating the utility of the Internet and social media as data sources for identifying outbreaks or case finding during outbreak investigations. Many of these data sources are promising in theory, and epidemiologists are busy evaluating their utility in outbreak detection and case identification. Examples of these data sources include Google hits for loss of smell and/or COVID-19 symptoms to detect outbreaks of COVID-19 and social media (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, blogs) to identify contacts of patients with infectious disease, countries that people traveled to before becoming sick, or levels of disease activity in different countries.
BATTLE AGAINST COVID-19 AIDED BY VARIANT TRACKING
The US doesn’t know exactly how widespread the Delta coronavirus variant is because of inadequate virus sequencing. The US doesn’t really know how widespread the Delta variant is because its virus sequencing is lagging far behind many other rich nations. Sequencing tells you what strain of the virus is causing a COVID-19 infection but Good Gene/Cellgenemedix has developed a variety of methods to find new variants as they mutate.
This is where our surveillance app, ELEVATION, comes in. We aim to elevate health care by building a platform in which HIPAA protected information of variant testing may be automatically and manually uploaded. We have built a platform in which people may exchange HIPAA compliant health information that are vital for COVID-19 control and new variants that come out. In practical use, it can aid in finding vaccination rates around you or variants that are around you that are vaccine / treatment resistant or that may not be detected by conventional testing methods.
In comparison, Citizen, another mobile app that sends users location-based safety alerts in real time, added the COVID-19 digital contact tracer SafePass in March 2020. This is a personal safety network that enables you to protect yourself with access to real-time 911 alerts, instant help from crisis responders, and safety tracking functions. The app uses radio antennas installed in major cities to monitor 911 communications, with employees filtering the audio to generate alerts. We aim to use location data to route real-time safety alerts to users while protecting their data. We have never and will never share data or private medical information.
Just like wikipedia, ELEVATION aims to be platform in which many people and viewers may contribute. Wikipedia is a hypertext publication collaboratively edited and managed by its own audience directly using a web browser. A wiki engine, being a form of a content management system, differs from other web-based systems in that the content is created without any defined owner or leader, and wikis have little inherent structure, allowing structure to emerge according to the needs of the users. We aim to build a database on vaccination rates and variants all around the world.
This was built during the COVID-19 pandemic in an effort to build surveillance around an existing or newly emerging epidemic/pandemic. Good gene/Cellgenemedix has the GG COVID-19 mutation kit to identify all current clinically significant mutants in a rapid, cost-effective way. With this technology, we aim to identify all new COVID-19 variants with the minisequencing technology we have. We will ultimately build surveillance in all current and future variants of COVID-19 and other future epidemic/pandemics. This could help you and your loved ones stay safe.
